Project Overview

HE Designs is a fledgling embroidery brand that needed an online shop to sell their products. They felt restricted by selling on Etsy and Vinted and wanted to control their own online presence.

Client Challenges

The main challenge was to create a shop that could be used easily by nontechnical users. Business owner Hannah also needed to be able to update the site herself without having any technical expertise.

Our Solution

• CMS Powered: We used DatoCMS to power the site, allowing Hannah to create new pages and products as she wanted. The CMS can also update the home page and other sections.
• Shopping Cart: Using Stripe for checkout and payments meant that Hannah gets realtime updates using the Strip app on her phone, and can begin fulfilling orders immediately.
• Static Site Generation: The site is entirely static, generated using Astro. This means only small amounts of client-side JavaScript, meaning it’s fast and SEO-friendly.

Key Features

• Adaptive Mobile Friendly Layout: The site is designed to be mobile-friendly, with a responsive layout that adapts to different screen sizes.
• Easy Checkout: Adding to the cart and checking out is as simple as possible. Users are not asked to register or create an account before making a purchase.
• Structured Content: Although some content modules are not used, if Hannah adds video content or other media, the site is ready to display it.

Results & Impact

• Brand Growth: The business owners’ brand is becoming well known across North Wales with her first order being placed within hours of going live.
• Performance: Achieved high scores across all Lighthouse metrics (Performance, Accessibility, SEO).
• Continuous Monitoring: Utilising tools such as Cabin Analytics and Ahrefs, we monitor site SEO performance and user engagement.
